LOCAL BUILDING TRADES COUNCIL ENDORSE
JOSEPH RUGGIERO FOR COUNTY EXECUTIVE

(June 21 2007, Poughkeepsie, New York)

The Hudson Valley Building and Construction Trades Council endorsed Joseph Ruggiero's candidacy for County Executive today. President Todd Diorio and other labor leaders made the announcement at a press conference that took place June 21st at the Italian Center located at 227 Mill St. in the City of Poughkeepsie at 1:30pm.

The Hudson Valley Building and Construction Trades Council represents 28 local unions associated with building trades. Representatives from these unions were on hand to give their support to Ruggiero at the event. Ruggiero received the unanimous endorsement of the following unions which make up the trades council: Bricklayers Local 5, Roofers Union Local 8, Boilermakers Local 5, District Council 9, Tile, Marble, & Terrazo B.A.C. Local 7, Laborers Local 17, Carpenters Local 19, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 21, Elevator Constructors Local 138, Sheetmetal Workers Local 38, Asbestos Workers 91, I.U.O.E. Local 106, I.U.O.E. Local 137, IBEW Local 363, Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 373, Ironworkers Local 417, Teamsters Local 445, Millwright Local 740, Road Sprinkler Fitters Local 669, Operating Engineers Local 825, Laborers Local 1000, Resilient Floor Covers Local 2287, Operating Engineers Local 30, Operative Plasterers' and Cement Masons' International Association Local 262, Sheetmetal Workers Local 137, Sheetmetal Workers Local 83, Asbestos, Heat, & Frost Local 40, and United Cement Masons' Union Local 780.

Ruggiero said, "I am honored to have our friends from labor coming out to support me in this race. These are the hardworking men and women who continue to make Dutchess County a great place to live". Ruggiero strongly believes in supporting the blue-collar workers of our region. He is the proud son of a New York City sanitation worker and union member.
