DUTCHESS COUNTY DEPUTY SHERIFF'S PBA PUBLICLY ENDORSES JOSEPH RUGGIERO FOR COUNTY EXECUTIVE
(Wappingers Falls, New York, Aug 2, 2007)
The Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff's Police Benevolent Association publicly endorsed Joseph Ruggiero for County Executive today. The endorsement was given at a press conference Thursday August 2nd at 2:00pm at Wappinger Town Hall located at 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls.
The PBA represents county law enforcement and has 106 members. President Ken Powers was at the press conference to show the organization's support for Ruggiero's candidacy. Deputy Powers said, "Mr. Ruggiero is a proven leader as evidenced by his tenure in the Town of Wappinger and has demonstrated his dedication to public safety. We consider Mr. Ruggiero a friend to law enforcement and urge all citizens of Dutchess County to elect him to the office of County Executive". The PBA voted last week to endorse Ruggiero over his incumbent opponent by an overwhelming majority of 49 to 3.
Ruggiero said, "Law enforcement is an integral part of the quality of life for citizens in Dutchess County. I believe it is important that the County Executive and law enforcement have a partnership to ensure that we provide the residents of Dutchess County with the best quality of service. I am honored that the PBA has recognized my commitment to the safety of the people of Dutchess County, and that they are supporting me in my campaign for the office of County Executive."
